Club Information

North Ealing Wine Tasting Society - or NEWTS as it is more affectionately know - is a local wine tasting group that runs monthly wine tastings, usually held in the St Barnabus Millenium Hall.

We are an informal and unpretentious group and try to run a wide range of tastings, covering both well known and lesser known wines and wine regions of the world. We invite speakers from a number of sources, including independent speakers from the Institute of Wine Educators and representatives of the large wine merchants and supermarkets. Above all, we like our tastings to be fun.

There is no membership fee. We operate a 'pay as you go' system and most tastings cost around £20. If you would like to be on our mailing list, sample one of our tastings, or simply find out more about us, please call.

As COVID-19 is still with us, we are making a few changes to how NEWTS meetings are going to be run. We are doing our best to ensure the safety of our members, but we understand if people are nervous about returning to NEWTS.

Meetings will be restricted to 18 people, including the speaker, to allow for Social Distancing.

We ask you to supply a contact phone number when you respond to the invitation, for Track and Trace purposes.

Tasting sheets will be sent out by email before the meeting, so members can print them out before they come.

Hand santiser will be provided just inside the door of the Small Hall. We will still be accepting cash as well as cheques but recommend that you use sanitiser before and after putting money into the basket.

On arrival, we would ask members to go straight to their seats. Seating will be by family or bubble or, for individuals, using metre-plus distancing rules. A seating plan will be provided, so please let us know if you have a non-family “bubble” group who wish to sit together.

If you have your own tasting glasses, then we would recommend that you bring them to meetings.

NEWTS will still provide glasses if needed, and these will be washed before and after each meeting.

We will provide bottled water and individually wrapped biscuits. We will not be providing cheese.

Please feel free to bring your own water and snacks to share within your bubble.

We will not be able to provide spitoons. Therefore, we recommend that you bring your own container for that purpose.

In the current climate, we would ask you to keep a 1m+ distancing if you wish to socialise over the remaining wine after the meeting.

The price remains £20/head per meeting, with the exception of our Christmas special., which will be £25.

You can find details of future events on our website at http://www.newtsealing.org/
